two things

i got a job at this little bakery in town. i'm hoping it goes well. :D

also, i was totally blown away tonight, by the best dessert idea i've ever heard. Donut fries. little donut sticks roughly the size and shape of french fries, with raspberry sauce to dip them in.

Maybe it takes a chef type, and specifically one who is, like me, fond of food that looks like other food, to be so struck by what a neat idea this is. I honestly want to try it out now, and put them in a little red and white striped paper diner fry basket.

bonus third thing: i also came across breakfast sushi. (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and rice) f the haters, i am going to make mexican sushi someday, and i will eat it and smile and be very proud of my creativeness.

super long day today. everything went well, though, so that's certainly good. My sister's new baby girl is adorable (as babies tend to be), the cinnamon rolls i was making turned out good when i didn't think they were going to, and everything else more or less went on time.

I'm rather happy i got to be home this year, and special thanks to joecam and the person whose number i didn't have for some reason that texted me holiday wishes.

hope you all had an awesome kthxgiving

It's going great. After a few false starts on figuring out how to make the bacon, my instructor suggested something and it worked wonderfully. Now for the pictures!

Sorry if you happen to see this twice, i put it on my chefjournal too.

Rather large pictures, at that )

so i get to school today, go up to the floor my class is on, and come off the elevator to see a fairly large picture of me and another guy taken back when we had this competition.

I was a little surprised.

if anyone on my friends list is thinking about getting world of warcraft, let me know so i can 'recruit' you and we'll both get bonuses. (extra exp, ingame stuff)

Thanks!

so i got an email from my advisor chick at kendall, and one of the classes i need to take was cancelled because of not enough people enrolled. This screws up basically everything, because i cannot afford to stay up there for 6 months to take two classes one semester and one the next. I just don't have the funds.

If i can't figure something out, i won't be going back.

atleast i'm catching up with everyone else in the 'crappy roadblocks' department??

http://steamgames.com/tf2/heavy/index.php - install steam, preload TF2, play the full game for free this weekend.

If you've been thinking about wanting to check it out, this is a very good chance to do so.

does the "let's run this shit straight into the ground" level usage of the words 'win', 'fail', and 'epic', as well as any combination thereof, bug anyone else? It's driving me nuts.

all caps ranting within )

They are the tastiest. I could have used a little more cinnamon in them though. I'll just have to remember that for next time.

so, i haven't posted a real entry in about a million years, so i thought i should.

I'm still at home, still trying to figure out how to pull off getting up to chicago to see awesome girls named maureen.

If i could find somewhere to live just for a few months while i finished up college, that would be beyond fantastic.

Still dealing with cleaning out my grandparents' house. There is so much crap in there, it's not even funny. In two weeks we're going up to their lake house to assess the tragedy up there. Nobody responsible has been up there in probably 3 years, and my cousins that have been up there left it in who knows what kind of shape.

things are going along pretty well, really. I'm minorly bummed about some unimportant internet BS, and i haven't been able to talk to the awesome people i know on the tubes, but things really are pretty decent

1. What do you think of _____________ ?

2. When did you last ____________?

3. __________ or ___________ and why?

4. What did you ______________?

5. What's your favorite ______________?

6. How would you ______________?

7. Who would you most like to ________ ?

Fill in the blanks and ask me!

There's some crappy stuff going on, so to take my mind off of it, i'm posting this silly quiz.

wow, that challenge was really, really bad :(

this is nuts, this guy on 'throwdown' made a cheesecake, but it's sandwiched with two layers of devil's food cake, then frosted with some sort of chocolate frosting all around. It looks like you could gain ten pounds just from being in the same building with it.

i didn't just fail, i failed catastrophically. All of my chefs agreed with me when i said i thought it would be beneficial for me to decide if this is really want i want to do, in this area.

the ip logging thing only shows for the journal owner, right?

the_af: (Default)

When you make 'friends only' posts on your journal, do they show up with the same restrictions if you are browsing someone else's f-list?

example: say i post something friends only. Will unrelated (to me) people reading hillary's f-list be able to see that?

It's just something i've been wondering.

edit: adding the gmail quote of the day, because i liked it.

"Quote of the Day - Saint Francis de Sales - "Be who you are and be that well."
